It was the best night’s sleep I’ve had in pro bably six months because reasons.
In other good news, we paid off 55% of our student debt Friday. It was one fat Sallie-Mae. Currently discussing if we should pay off the rest, or wait until our savings account is fatter. Both ideas have merit. I just want to pay them off, have peace of mind (and a sense of accomplishment) and one less fat bill every month . B ut having just bought a house, extra monies lying around should something happen is definitely appealing.
Longbed is happy with the cap off again, too.

Sounds like good news! Less debt, more sleep; cap this off with a good meal and drink and you’ve got yerself a great fuckin day there.

Happy for you guys! I think you should take things slow for now and see how your account looks in 6 months. If you feel secure enough (and get any tax money back) you should consider paying off the rest.

Every one needs a rest. I got up early the morning cleaned my car, and made French toast and sausage muffins because my son had a friend over. Good stuff.

Depends on the rate. If your student loan rate is really low, better to pay off other debt/mortgage first, or invest it. I spent over 10 years paying mine off, as I consolidated at something like 2.5% soon after gra duation - no incentive to pay ahead.

I can tell you that I'm definitely not at 2.5%

Man, you never know when you need a wad of cash for a house. Maybe make double payments as a compromise?
